Dust on My Bible

Found my Bible again today, covered in dust there it lay
Maybe I should wipe it off open it and read?

Leather cover, paper page, and life’s living inside
Think I’ll dust it off open it and read?

If I read then I can change to the image Jesus gave
I believe I will pick it up open it and read.

Worked hard today it’s time to sleep another day I didn’t read
Tomorrow I will take the time open it and read.

Found my Bible a month away, covered in dust there I lay
When will I pick it up open it and read?

Jesus forgive, what can I say, covered in dust years away
Wish I’d dusted it, open it and read.

Can't Sleep Thinking About Stuff

I just made the 10 hour trip from KC to Nashville. Yea and I'm a control freak so I drove it all, but hey! We have friends with us from the UK and they wanted to see Nashville so here we are. Tomorrow I am mixing the audio for the TV show "Love, Marriage & Stinking Thinking we just recorded 13 episodes of the show in August and we were the house band. Mark Gungor hosted with co-host Nancy Stafford, Nancy co-stared in the 80's hit Mattlock.

In the morning I will find out exactly when The Electric Rev. will be arriving. Man! will I be happy about that.... This is my fifth CD and it is for sure my best. Green Bananas is on The Rev TV page you may enjoy that.

Anyway I can't sleep thinking about stuff. You know the norm, money, business, scheduling. Someone onc

100 Pounds and Counting, One Rock at a Time

Perhaps you’ve heard me tell this story. Eight years ago March 1st Sherri and I left our positions at a large church because we had a dream in our hearts. Who knew if the dream would work, we just knew that we needed to try. So we resigned and when the time came, we cleaned out our offices and went home. One of my best friends Bob Ingle called me that day and asked “what can I do to help you”. I told Bob, call me on Monday and tell me that “I did the right thing”. So that Monday I get a call from Bob “Jimmie you did the right thing” and every Monday for the last eight years I get a call from Bob. It is a great testimony of a faithful friend and I am blessed to have Bob as my friend.

Yesterday Bob and his wife Flo came by the house to celebrate that Bob had officially lost 100 pounds and Flo has lost 48 pounds. What a wonderful accomplishment, so what did Bob do?  Eat 2000 calories a day and exercise, then bam 100 pounds gone. I asked Bob how much more he wanted to lose, he said “I plan on living this way the rest of my life and whatever I stop at, that is it”.

I have written a song that you haven’t heard yet.  It will be on the new CD and it is a testimony to guys and gals like Bob and Flo, its called One Rock. The message is simple walk around the mountain, talk to the mountain but while you’re walking and talking start picking up rocks, the hooks says it like this “I’m gonna move that mountain if “One Rock” at a time”. Many times the mountains in our lives won’t be removed and cast into the sea till we do some much needed “WORK” and one day out of the blue the thing is gone. I know WORK is a four letter word.  But it is a good four letter word not a bad one.

So to my friends Bob and Flo congratulations. And to all of us, it’s “One Rock” at a time.

Peace,

The Rev.
